The Oxford Ukraine Hub hosted its first interdisciplinary Ukraine Summer School on 22-26 September 2025.
The school explored aspects of Ukrainian history, politics, and culture, with a view to better understanding Ukraine's role in European and global developments today. Topics included security and warfare, reconstruction and state consolidation, energy politics and environmental transformations, and the cultural impact of war. The final day of the summer school was made up of a one-day, in-person workshop with some of Ukraine’s leading human rights actors, writers, and academics including, among others, Stanislav Aseyev, Maksym Butkevych and Oksana Kis.
Eight postgraduate students with an interest in contemporary Ukraine were selected to attend the summer school.
